Student Spotlight: Meet Alexandra McBrearty!

LKS spotlights student and alumni members that are making a difference in their chapters, in their communities, and in the field of pharmacy.
About Alexandra:

My name is Alexandra McBrearty and I am currently a freshman at Butler University.  I am in Lambda Kappa Sigma Phi Chapter here at Butler. I currently work at Walgreens and babysit for families! I love to run and do yoga and I am working towards running a half marathon and then a full marathon within the next year! I also really enjoy traveling especially with my family because those are some of the best memories I have of growing up!

Why did you join LKS?

I joined LKS this past fall and I absolutely fell in love with the fraternity and all the women in it! During the first call out meeting I knew I wanted to be apart of the organization because of how welcoming and outgoing each girl was and how comfortable I had felt with them immediately! I joined LKS because I wanted to be apart of an organization that not only would push me to become a better student but would also help me to grow as person so that I could reach my goals of pharmacy school and life! My favorite LKS activity we did this year was our pottery event because it was a night where we all were able to just relax and take a small break from school and all other stresses.

Favorite LKS memory?

My most memorable LKS moment was definitely when I received my bid to be in the fraternity! I was so nervous leading up to the day we got them because I wanted to be apart of this special sisterhood!

Career Plans:

For my career plans I am really open minded right now as I go through pharmacy school to any jobs. However, I absolutely love children and reading about research so I am hoping that one day I will either get to work as a clinical pharmacist for pediatrics or that I will be able research new drugs specifically for oncology! I am very excited for what is to come with my life and career in pharmacy and I am so lucky to have such a great support system like LKS to help me through it all!
