Student Spotlight: Meet Kelly Leung!

LKS spotlights student and alumni members that are making a difference in their chapters, in their communities, and in the field of pharmacy.

Tell us about yourself: (school, chapter, work, hobbies, LKS activities, meetings attended)

Hello! My name is Kelly Leung and I am a member of Alpha Chapter. I will be graduating this upcoming May from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences in Boston, MA. I am currently a Project Management Intern and hope to pursue a business focused career within the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries.

Which of our core values (sisterhood, leadership, service, scholarship and integrity) do you feel you most strongly represent and how?

The reason why I joined LKS Alpha Chapter was because of the core values are strongly shared within the organization and between sisters. I believe that I represent Sisterhood and Leadership. Ever since I joined in Spring 2018, every lamb has been by my side to this day and continue to share many laughs about our memories. I have always been there for any sister who needed extra support during stressful times. The diversity and intelligence of our Alpha Chapter allowed me to learn so much from every sister, especially from their involvement inside and outside of MCPHS University. My leadership has shown from my ability to manage my full-time commitment between internships, college courses, LKS, and other responsibilities. The LKS sisterhood is absolutely welcoming and encouraging, which helped me grow as a sister and develop my professionalism.
What LKS related events are you looking forward to in this upcoming year?
One of my favorite events would be the Annual Sister’s Potluck and Bowling Events with Northeastern University, Alpha Rho. Since I will be graduating this Spring, I will miss attending these special events! I really enjoyed meeting new sisters from Alpha Rho. It is great to have another LKS Chapter as our neighbor in Boston, MA!
What is your favorite chapter/school tradition?
My favorite tradition would be Founder’s Day because it brings all of the sisters and alumni together to celebrate our Founder’s and the creation of LKS. In fact, I am always amazed whenever I’m on campus because it reminds me that MCPHS is the heart of LKS. I have learned so much from all of our guest speakers about their career path, LKS involvement, and historical facts. I also enjoy our professional events with guest speakers, who discuss various health topics related to women’s health and pharmacy. Thank you alumni and professors who took the time to talk to us!
Who do you see as your role model in LKS and why?
My role models would be LKS alumni and sisters because I definitely have learned so many new things! I learned that we will all have unique paths during our college and career journey. The Alpha Chapter sisters have new creative ideas for LKS and professional stories to share with one another. It all comes back to the core values because all of the sisters and alumni are incredibly talented and dedicated to achieving their goals.
What makes you excited to be a ‘lamb for life?’
After my graduation, I will always know that I am a “lamb for life”. The friendships and memories I have made throughout college will always be cherished. A “lamb for life” means that the sisterhood will always be there, no matter where we are in the world!
