Meet Madeleine DePhino
Chapter: Alpha Beta Chapter (Univ. of Connecticut)
About Madeleine
I am a pre-pharmacy student in my second year of school at UConn (Alpha Beta Chapter) and have been working at an independent pharmacy in Southbury, Connecticut, for the past two years. In my free time, I love to work out, paint and make jewelry. In my past year in LKS, I participated in the alumni tailgate, the walk for suicide awareness, tabling to promote skin protection from the sun, Huskython, our fall baking event, and of course Convention! I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful organization, and I have been so empowered by the successful women around me.
Why did you join LKS? I joined Lambda Kappa Sigma during the fall of my freshman year because I knew that I would be surrounded by women looking to become pharmacists just as I am. But I did not realize that most, if not all, of the great friends that I made this year would come from LKS!
Most memorable LKS experience?
My most memorable Lambda Kappa Sigma experience has been the walk for suicide awareness hosted by Beta Beta Chapter at Western New England University. We traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts, to support the cause, and it was the first time that I had the ability to meet sisters from other chapters. I loved the opportunity to travel and see WNE’s campus, along with meeting and becoming friends with girls from their chapter. We all wore our LKS apparel proudly! Although it was chilly, we did not mind because we all talked about our experiences at our chapters and planned for future events together.
What are your career plans?
My future plans are to obtain a PharmD followed by doing a residency in cardiology. I am looking forward to becoming more involved in Lambda Kappa Sigma and my years to come in school!
