Tell us about yourself
My name is Parisa Ayers and I am a member of the Alpha Kappa chapter at the University of Georgia. I am so proud to state that I work at an amazing hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. In those rare moments where I am not in the classroom or studying, you can find me exercising, reading, or hanging out with my family and friends. I have loved the leadership positions LKS has given me the opportunity to have. I served as orientation class president my P1 year, treasurer my P2 year, and am currently the president. I have attended both the 2017 and 2018 LKS convention and encourage others to attend future conventions.
Why did you join LKS?
I joined LKS because I was looking for a group of people who shared my passion and interest in pharmacy. I found some of my best friends through LKS and it is so rewarding to be able to go through pharmacy school and life together. LKS has allowed me to become involved in the school of pharmacy and our community, and looking back I am so happy I joined this amazing organization.
Most Memorable LKS Experience
My most memorable LKS experience was participating in “Flamingo Flocking” to raise money to support the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support in Athens. It was so fun having teachers donate money to “flock” each other and cover fellow professors doors in pink paper, blown up flamingos, and feather boas. It was a fun way to get to know our professors and get them involved in the fundraiser as well.
Future Career Plans
After working in a pediatric hospital I have been inspired to pursue a career in pediatric pharmacy. I hope to attend a residency and specialize in pediatrics. My goal is to go full circle and be a Pediatric Pharmacist in the same hospital that first inspired me to pursue pediatrics.
