Our Philanthropic Focus: Project HOPE
Since 1958, Project HOPE has worked to make long-term, sustainable health care available for people around the globe. Their work includes educating health professionals and community health workers, strengthening health facilities, eliminating preventable deaths of newborns and birthing mothers, fighting diseases such as TB, HIV/AIDS and diabetes, and providing humanitarian assistance through donated medicines and medical supplies and through volunteer medical help.
Project HOPE has been the official National Philanthropy of Lambda Kappa Sigma for more than 30 years. LKS chapters hold campus-based fundraisers to support this worthy effort.
One fundraiser, the HOPE WaLKS 5K, was established by Nu Chapter at Drake University in 2010. This wildly successful event has been adopted by LKS on a national level. A HOPE WaLKS event is held to raise funds for and awareness about Project HOPE.
